Serving in worship
There are many ways that people can get involved in serving for worship:
Altar care – Setting up the altar, font and hymn numbers each week.
Baking bread for communion – We have a recipe!
Communion assistants- They help the pastor during communion with the wine and juice.
Lectors – Read the Bible passages for the day.
Ushers- Greet and hand out programs, assist in ushering people to the altar rail.
Acolytes– Light the candles before service and extinguish them at the end. Usually confirmation students wear red robes and do this.
Choir- Sing with the group, often hymns and other anthems are practiced Sunday morning.
Nursery-You may want to volunteer in the nursery. A screen shows the service while you watch children.
Offering counters– 2 people each week count the offering.
Ring the Bell– The young ones like an opportunity to go up in the balcony and pull the rope to ring the bell at the end of the worship time (supervised of course!).
These helpers are an integral part of our worship and we thank them for their service.
To volunteer in any of these ways please contact the church office or write a note and leave it by the secretary’s door. Cassie will put you in on a rotation and our newsletter contains a 2 month listing of service volunteers.
