Fellowship strengthens our church and community

Lydia Ladies Aid

There is a group of women who meet monthly for devotions, prayer, fellowship, and seeking ways to help provide support for things that are needed in the church building. When there is a funeral or a wedding, the Lydia Ladies and others can offer a fine meal for those who come to use our church building. For many years the Lydia Ladies Aid hold a Fall Harvest Bazaar here to raise money for special
projects. They are generous in helping Josephine Caring Community and other programs and projects in need of funding. The group meets at 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall the 3rd Thursday of the month. All are welcome to the meetings.

Women’s Quilting Group

Quilting has been a long-standing project in many Lutheran churches around the country. The ones we make are blessed then given to people in need at Oasis Teen Shelter and Friendship House. Once a month several women gather to tie quilts for those who do not have a blanket to call their own. The quilt tops are sewn together beforehand.  Maybe you enjoy sewing and would like to make a quilt top at your home. Donations of fabric or time is always appreciated. To join in this ministry contact our church office or look for monthly dates in the newsletter.

Annual Fall Harvest Bazaar

The third Saturday in October we put on a fall festival. The event continues to grow. Planning begins early and many people are involved to make it a success. Silent auction baskets, crafts, collectibles, produce, fall decor, lunch, and a bakery that includes Lefse! All are encouraged to join in, there are many ways to help. Call the church office or sign up in the Fellowship Hall.

Fall Harvest Dinner

With the bounty of vegetables in the fall, a delicious meal is made featuring squash, green beans and ham. The meal includes a roll, beverage and dessert. Come share a tasty meal with your friends and neighbors. Watch for the date in the newsletter. Free will offering proceeds are given to Conway school to buy turkeys for needy families in the community.

Annual Pastor Fritschel Christmas Auction & Dinner

The first Saturday in December is usually the date set for this fun celebration. Named after Pastor Ed Fritschel who retired from Edison Lutheran Church in 1997 and then joined Fir-Conway Lutheran with his wife Mae. He started this open-invitation dinner as a way to give back to the community. In the beginning , his goal was to provide a night out for couples during the holidays to share fellowship, share a potluck meal and raise money for a good cause. Bring a potluck side dish or dessert and a wrapped gift for the auction. This is always a wonderful evening as the bidding gets very competitive. You are bidding on a wrapped gift, what is it? Much laughter and fellowship for all who come. Pastor Fritschel and his dear wife Mae have passed on. They gave Fir-Conway a lasting legacy of a meal to be shared with friends during the busy Christmas season and an opportunity to joyfully support Neighbors in Need Food Bank and Oasis Teen Shelter.

Soup Suppers

On Wednesdays nights during Lent we have Soup Suppers. All are invited to join in a meal of soup and bread. You may sign up to make soup, bread or to serve the meal. Then come upstairs afterwards for the Lenten Service. Often we use the Holden Evening Prayer liturgy.  It is a special time of worship and fellowship.

Yearly Birthday Party

A birthday party for everyone in the congregation, including visitors. People are invited to sit at the table assigned to their birthday month. Meet others who share your birthday season, eat cake and ice cream together. Who doesn’t love a party?

Pie Auction

This is a delightful and delicious fund-raising event. All kinds of pies are lovingly prepared and donated for the auction. Fruit pies, cream pies and even quiche pies! Bidders raise their paddles for their favorite ones. Will you get the one you want? Will you be outbid? Will you share the pie? So much fundraising fun! Check the church calendar for event dates.
